Exhaust ticket in NY - how to fight it???

NYPD me today.

got an "excesive noise/unreasonable exhaust" summons and I have no idea how to fight it or if its worth fighting.

Damn the 'packs n x-pipe!

Whats the penalty for an exhaust thats too loud? I might as well just pay it and get this over with. Not sure how much this ticket could be. Any ideas?

I have to go to Queens Co. court next month.

Is it a mandatory court appearance, or can it just be mailed in?

hahaha yea...i registered this name back when i had a ...gulp...honda . I registered a new name last year but forgot it since i never really post

O/R Magnaflow x-pipe with cats and Magnapacs.

It says i have to go to court in april and i was just wondering if anyone knows how much the fine for this can be?

Dude,

That sounds like B.S. to me. You shouldve never gotten a ticket for that! Especially being in Queens, which seems to be the import capital of the world. i would fight it, Whoever gave you that ticket-Has to be a ROOKIE!!!!
Were you just idiling? getting on it??? or what-Whats the scoop?

It amazes me though!

That in NYC, they can do all kinds of construction at wee hours of the morning, wake everybody up, there is no emergencey- use jack hammers @ all hours of the night-Not give a crap about-people who are residents and-And the city is the main culprit, and break balls-for an exhaust.

Its all about the $$$, or maybe a "ricer" with a badge-Hit you up! To me-NYC SUXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX-I know-I live here. Cant wait to move.

get someone to write you a receipt for new quiet exhaust. show them the receipt and tell them you had the problem taken care of. Only thing is if your goinng to traffic court,the five boroughs and suffolk county are run by the DMV. The DMV uses judifcation judges. That is why they don't wear robes. You also don't have to stand when they enter the room. These clowns are on DMV payroll. Therefore they must bring in income to support them being there. chances are you will pay a fine . How much will depend on your driving record and the mood that the so called judge is in. believe me they will look at your driving record. DMV courts $uck monkey balls.

This is a bonafide fact! And your guaranteed-that they will get you for something, you will not leave that court with some kind of fine. maybe not the full fine, but some kind of court cost bull'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'!
He must of gotten you during his Quota time. But hey-remember-They dont exist! Yeah right!!!!
Actually-i would just pay it throught the mail-If i could. Your getting strong armed anyhow-So What does it matter, Its not worth the AGITA your gonna get before, during and afterwards dealing with these incompetent individuals, But i would remember his name and shield# and precinct-Without a doubt!

You got that right. G'dam kangaroo courts. Only way to get out of it is if the cop don't show up twice.

actually i just looked at the ticket again and I have to show up at Queens Criminal court, not a DMV office...not sure if this makes a difference.

When the cop handed me the summons she told me to bring in a repair recipt and it would be thrown out, but will anyone actually inspect my car?

So i guess i will go in - plead guilty, show the recipt and pay the fine.

I got a ticket for my exhaust before. The 'packs sound soo damn good though, I'll never take them off no matter how many tickets I get. Anyway, I just took it to my buddies exhaust shop, he signed the ticket saying I fixed my exhaust, and I handed it in. Look for a ghetto exhaust shop to "inspect" your exhaust and sign the ticket. I can think of a few shops around here that would sign the ticket and let you be on your way. I guarantee you can find a shop around you that will do tyhe same. I know the fine for not having CATs in PA is is around $2500.

criminal court is a different story. driving without cats is a big offense. you are violating EPA regulations. (like a lot of us). chances are you can get off with a receipt. good luck.

you have an off road x pipe with cats? which one is it. if it is off road x pipe with magnapacks then that is damn loud. not that you should get a ticket for it, but if it is high flow x pipe then it should def. not be that bad.

I've learned to appeal everything, dont just give htem your money without making them work. A lady cop gave you the ticket, I guess anything louder than her vibrator is too loud. Hate cops for pulling people over for exhaust. Mass area I never see a Harley Pulled over just cars. Im a fan of loud exhaust. You could get lucky in court and get in thrown away with a receipt. Or aleast reduced fine. Dont give up, Fight the Police

I never see any Harley's pulled over for a loud exhaust.......
