Ok I just put a full exhaust on the LX. BBK equal length shorty headers, BBK off road H, and Flowmaster catback and the car seems the same as it was stock. Do I have a problem or do I need to wait for the computer to learn the system first? Also I can't get my air tube from the h pipe back down through the engine bay to hook it back up so we kinda bypassed for the moment. If anyone knows what I'm trying to explain here please respond.

Do you mean power wise? That is quite normal when putting a full aftermarket exhaust system on a stock engine. You will maybe notice a slight increase in power from 4000+ but not much below that. Doing exhaust on a stock engine should be done mainly for sound.

Personally I would just ditch the air tube and pump. If you have emissions testing up there I th ink you would have to keep it. Just cap the tube on the exhaust if you decide to ditch the system. And on another note EQUAL length headers? Do you like to make changing spark plugs as hard as possible? Just my $.02

Yes I was talking powerwise. That's depressing to find that out. I figured it would wake the car up with larger tubing all the way back. What can I do for a little more power?

The plugs didn't seem that hard to change? It wasn't much different than the stock headers.

Man my full exhaust added GOBS of power. It revs to 6000 now when it really hated going above 3000 before.

It was a little doggy before and it is hard to drive slow now.

Go advance your timing and tune it up.

Disconnect battery for 1/2 hour to get the computer to learn your set up from 'scratch'

doesnt putting headers on a stock motor actually make you lose torque??

I dont think any aftermarket exhaust are TUNED to our mustangs, but i dont know. all the exhaust are the same pretty much, its just how much you want to spend, higher price = better quality exhaust = better quality sound = more badass feel to the car = something = something...

yes....Headers, especially lts will actually make you lose some low end torque, but once you get heads and intake it should give you a gain in power...or so ive heard

I went with mac long tube 1 5/8 with 2.5 in off road h-pipe and 40 series flowmasters and I could tell a big gain from 3000 to 6500 on stock heads and a cobra intake. It also helped alot to get the air filter in to the fender well.

You guys that rev a stock engine (other than exhaust) past around 5200 rpm are just wasting time. If you shift lower, your car will be faster.

Gears are a good investment but I prefered my stock ones(2.73). I liked the fact that I could do 90 mph in 2nd gear. Race people that had more power than me but I only had to shift 2 maybe 3 times to their 3/4 times and it made all the difference in the world. Also great for the highway (25 mpg@85mph).

The only place I have read this is in the popular car mags. What I learned in school is that it is not true, this is from a Professor that is respected in the performance arena. I have tried to find dyno tests to prove one way or the other with no luck. Any one have back to back dyno tests on this?
