i posted a thread asking the same thing but i don't think that a fox can. the mufflers mount to close to the back axle and it would take a pretty hard bend that wouldn't benefit . but i would like to see it done think it would really look good!!
i put a spintech side exit on my 87 notch, it was for a 94/95 so it stuck out a little far, i just cut tips off an put shorter ones on. if your driveway has a high curb or you go over large speed bumps the spin tech one will drag though.
Spintech does, but to be honest I dont see the point. I have mine dumped before the axle, and would do that 100 times over before running it out the side.
I had the spintech side exit kit on my 88. You really need the spintech sub frames to make the kit fit right. With long tubes, off road h-pipe and a nice cam, the kit sounds "NASTY" buying another set for my current set up. Very unique sound. I think exploding gopher on this site saved the sound clip of my car.
I had a side-exit setup I fabbed on my notch last year with a couple of same-side inlet/outlet Dynomax 2.5" muffs (part number was something like #17676 or something like that). I wasn't crazy about the way it sounded with an off-road X-pipe ahead of it - it sounded WAY better when I had an off-road H-pipe ahead of it on my prior notch - and constantly fighting the ground clearance issue was more of a PITA than it was worth. I'm glad I kept my Dynomax stainless tails and Pypes Violator muffs...
1. Use a standard offset inleft/center outlet muffler, put a 180* U-bend behind it, then a 90* elbow to put it out to the side. Looks weird under the car, potentially more restrictive than a standard rear-exit setup.
2. The Dynomax #17676 same-side inlet/oulet muffs like I used, just add a 90* elbow on each, plus an extension, and you're done. Looks kinda weird, though, unless you put some kinda groovy slash-cut tips on it, and it sounds kinda ugly behind an off-road X-pipe (however, it does sound VERY nice behind an off-road H-pipe - not as "poppy," more of an old-school Mopar kinda rumble).
3. Use a couple of 45* elbows right after the fllange off your X- or H-pipe, clamp/weld on some short and simple tube muffs (glasspacks, Race Magnum Bullets, Moroso Spiral Flows, whatever), and shoot 'em out the sides at an angle. Probably the least amount of ground clearance allowed, and HELLA loud, but probably the least restrictive exhaust you can make next to dumps, and you don't gag from the fumes pooling up under your chassis like you would with dumps. Probably best used on a car with a jacked-up rear for tall tires or something.
With ANY side-exit exhaust, you're gonna have to deal with a LOT of increased sound (not always a good thing - mine was obnoxiously loud inside, even with the windows up), ground clearance problems, and fumes drifting into the cabin at every single stoplight no matter which way the wind is blowing outside. You can tuck the exhaust up as high as possible to help with clearance, but then you're going to run into problems with the tailpipes hitting the floorboards and/or being in close proximity to the brake and fuel lines (you'd best be insulating/shielding them, in that case).
