Exterior help!!!

I need to replace the trunk lid on my car and I was wondering how you take the existing key latch out to replace it? I brought a used lid from a scrap yard and need to take my key latch out of my trunk lid and put it into the "new" one. I was trying to avoid taking out the rivet.. any info will help

Stanger16:

Get yourself a Hayne's manual ($20 from AutoZone) and you'll find a nice procedure for replacing the lock. There is no way to avoid removing the rivet. The only thing I can suggest to avoid the rivet removal thing is to call (visit would be better) a locksmith and ask him if it can be done.

Alldata says to knock the rivet out. I guess the lock cylinder repair kit comes with a new one ? I'm not sure if its a standard rivet, you may be able to secure it through other means. You could also buy the lock cylinder repair kit from Ford but I duno how much those cost or what all comes in them.
