i had the f303 in a 306 set up, edle heads, cobra intake, kb pistons. The thing was a mean sob. The f303 is a big cam but yes there are better cams out there.
Whats the rest of the combo. Most importantly which heads and intake are you going to be running. The F-cam is a high rpm cam...that really needs a good flowing set of heads and a higher rpm intake like a TFS track heat, systemaxx II, or eddy RPM II. Thats my opinion anyways.
The f-cam is more of a mid to high rpm cam. Its designed for a power band of around 3000+ rpm. It is definately not the best cam out there but it can work well if the combo is setup right. Its definately important to know what heads, intake, and rotating assembly you are using. Its also important to know what your goals are for the car.
For the rest of the set up, i am going with the gt40x 303 heads, the bbk ssi intake, long tube headers, and a 150 shot?...........How will this end up hp wise?
Ditch the SSI and buy a Systemax as far as the cam it is not the greatest cam ever ground but it still seems to amaze me the power you can make with it. That cam is also a very good blower/nitrous cam. You will not have a problem with your combo and you will problably be rather impressed with yourself. Ditch the BBK idea though
Yes, the F cam has more rpm potential than the other alphabet cams that it is often compared to, like the E and B cam. It is typically for a guy on a budget with a poweradder from what I have seen.
F-303 will work great with 10:1 compression and good flowing heads. It's gotta have a lil more than stock compression or forced induction to work good off of the bottle. I've seen a 347 car dyno 473 horsepower to the wheels with a s/c and GT-40X heads. Can't remember how must boost or what kind of induction though.
I'm running a 347 stroker on nitrous with an F 303 cam and I love it. It has a nice chunky idle and is a beast even running N/A on the street. My car has seen 500 h.p. and 560 r.w.t.q on the squeeze. My shift light is set @ 5800 rpm and my rev limiter at 6000 rpm. This cam does not need revs with a stroker. There are better cams out there I'm sure, but I don't think you will be dissappointed with the F cam.
