Factory keyless/alarm problems??

Is anyone else having problems with intermittent malfunctioning of the keyless/alarm remotes? Ever since we got this car (2006 GT vert w/Active Alarm) in September the keyless has been acting up, either working or not and sometimes you have to be right on the car (literally) to get it to work. It's ridiculous and the dealer realizes there is a problem but they don't know how to fix it??? We're about to just say "eff-it" and put on a Viper alarm....seems we wasted money on that "Active alarm" upgrade.

I haven't had any problems with the keyless remotes, except for the fact that I think the "panic" button is WAY too easy to press. I find myself accidentally setting it off all the time when reaching for the lock button.

But your problem sounds similar to one I had with my old viper alarm. Dying battery or dirty contacts in the remote. Exact same problem I had with my old one, and either replacing the battery of cleaning the contacts can help immensely. You'd be surprised how delicate some of them are. If you were walking with your keys in your pocket while it was raining, you could have dirty contacts. If the dealer says they can't fix it, I guarantee you they haven't checked the battery contacts in the remote. Unscrew it, and see if you can clean the terminals a bit... Wouldn't surprise me if it fixed the problem.

Thanks I will try that. Seems weird though because both remotes do it and we've only had the car for 5 months now.

This may be a longshot but is it acting up after a rainstorm or anything?
Some cars have have had a water leak in the cowl area allowing water to trickle down the passenger side kick panel into the smart junction box causing all kinds of electrical gremlins.

sounds like a bad battery or something like it...

as for that panic button, i do the same thing. after you hit it is there any way to shut it off without inserting the key into the ignition? simply pressing the button dosent do it.... not to mention i look like a douche trying to "steal" a car .

Changed battery and alarm won't go off

I have a 94 Mustang and we had to replace the battery today. When my husband went to hook up the second connector to the battery post the alarm went off and kept going off. There's a kill switch inside the car but when we flipped it nothing happened. Does anyone know what to do? The alarm horn is right next to the battery. I thoguht it was the panic alarm but I pushed it and both were going off. I start my car by putting the key in the ignition and the other key in a slot on the dashboard. I hope someone can help - we're stumped. Not even sure how to disconnect the alarm.
