I replaced the drivers door skin when I had the car painted. Even though it looks really sweet without the mirrors now, I know down the road I would want them on the car. Does anyone have any measurements they can share of the center of the hole on the drivers side to the front of the door or is there a better way to measure it? I do not have the old panel and I know I need to clear the vent window but would like to be more exact.

Are you going for factory spec here ? If you don't care about having is exactly right, maybe you should try puting the mirror where you think it will work best for you. If it is an inch off one way or the other but you can see out of it better I would think that is better then the factory possition... at least for you.

You really can place it and swing the wing window. Leave at least a half inch clearence. But I like to be more precise too. I can post a measurement Monda morning. Have a 67 and a 68 in the shop with mirrors off. SOmeone will probably beat me to it by then though. Are you going to run sheet metal screws into the door panel or use the crush nut inserts? If you use the inserts, get at least 3-4 extra cause they are CRAP and will take a couple trys. Also, the tighter they fit in the hole, the better they will work. The plastic spins in the hole before the crush nut is drawn up tight.

I am going with factory mirrors so I guess I really just need a screw hole location and the rest will follow.

Factory hole locations for PASSENGER side mirror

Hello everyone - reviving this thread in hopes of some help.

I'm seeking the factory hole locations/measurements for a Passenger side Remote dummy mirror - just need the two screw hole locations as this mirror has no remote mechanism. Do they just match the drivers side holes? I'd like to be as exact as I can before I drill up the doors

Any help much appreciated--thanks

I believe the drivers and passenger side mirrors are symetrical.

I had said I would measure this and forgot. Here is the drivers side measured from the REAR of the door. THis door seems to have an extra hole???
From the rear measuring forward:
First hole 31"
Second hole 33 7/16"
THird hole 35 7/8" Note-this is the large hole for the remote cable
Forth hole 37 1/8"

Lay down a piece of masking tape and mark the holes. Match the mirror mount up with the correct ones. THe 4th hole would be the forward most mounting hole. You will have to see which one of the rear ones is the correct one. Transpose the measurments to the other side for the passenger side mirror.
