factory tach to MSD box?

ok the 86 i just bought has a MSD 6AL ignition, when its not hooked up the tach works, but when i hook it up it doesn't ( i know its not hooked up to the MSD box like it should be) but my question is how do i run the factory tach to the MSD?

I read somewhere that u needed a adapter to run some tachs to the MSD box, and others you could plug right into the tach output, but i think ford needed the adapter, but i have no idea what it is, where to get it, how much it cost, or where the hell to run the wires to

The factory tach might not be wired as it originally came.

I suppose you could try to hook the tach up to the input-side of the box.

I dont know which wire is the tach wire on these cars, im new to ford, just bought my first one sunday, i have been a oldsmobile man all my life

i had to get the msd tach adapter it works fine for me after i got that

i would pull the msd wiring out, and rewire it yourself so you know it is correct. i dont know how its wired up, but it doesnt sound correct. and im assuming you mean the stock tach?

You need the msd tach adapter. I had the same issue till I bought the tach adapter.
