would i be ok running a fcam with a aod. also would i have piston to valve clearance problems running 1:7:1 crane cobra rockers with this cam. would i loose alot of lowend torque. any suggestions. looking for more horse power its never enough.

If i'm not mistaken ,you have forged pitons and with the 1.71 with "F" I don't think you'll have enough valve to piston clearance with out flycutting them first.I would also recomend changing your springs with that set up for 1,not enough seat pressure and 2,not enough ability to keep from floating a valve at higher rpms.

i dont know about clearance, but if ur going to go with the 1.7's u really should replace the springs, its hit or miss, in the one book i have for dyno proven HP, replacing the rockers with 1.7's it worked in one case and gave a nice boost, but in another, they couldnt run the bigger rockers due to valve float, so dont risk it, and replace the springs while you have the intake and valve covers off

You should have enough clearance. That's the least of your problems. 1) You might need valve springs. 2) You don't have enough gear to pull that cam with an AOD. You will lose all your bottom end. 3) An F cam is really good for a power adder car. Get a blower or nitrous and you'll be fine.

I always recommend a stock cam for AOD cars. If not stock, then you should have a custom cam ground for an automatic. As much as I like all the FMS cams, none of them was meant for a car with an automatic. The lobe separation on all the "Alphabet" cams is more suited to a five speed. An AOD needs cam timing events to happen sooner. A cam with 106-108 LSA would be a lot better. None of the FMS cams will offer that. Comp cams will grind you anything that you'd like...Ed Curtis?

Go custom grind and have them take into account for your 1.7s.. If you go custom you wont have to go changing things around like springs and going with a 1.6 rocker arm just to gain clearence. You will spend more on a custom grind but in the end it will be worth it.. Bennett Racing did a cam for my 95 when I was AODE and it worked out well. FTI (Ed Curtis) did my last cam for my 331 and made more power then the custom grind cam I had already in the motor. Good luck.

I have an aode with a "E" and 1.73 rr's and have absolutely no idle issues even when I had the stock aod slush box.I have made just recently 400rrh and torque at 4g and than ran lean because of a fuel issue thats now fixed so were going back for that 500 number with an alphabet cam imagine that.....

As I stated before you will not have enough p/v clearance which is major to worry about so going with a custom sounds like something you should do to stay safe,especialy if your new to this game and have no profesional help
