With the cost of peformance parts for the FE motors most guys stick with swapping the 385 into Mustangs and leave the FE stuff for the classic/muscle car guys. So due to basic economics you will probably not see very many FEs in foxbodies.
yes it has been done. I thought one of the big mustang mags was going to do an article one but I have yet to see (or remember) it. shouldn't be that hard to do if you really want to. FE to me is starting to go through a rebirth with companies making new and lighter parts for them for people wanting to use the FE in their 60s muscle cars and get every bit out of them.
A friend of a friend slapped a 390FE into a 4 banger hatch. It was a total hackjob though. Motor was up way high, and tolted so the C6 would fit in the tranny tunnel. It went pretty good, and the welded 7.5" held up for a long time. Although he had cooling issues with the 4 banger rad and electric fan (duh). It once got so hot that the casing melted right off the sparkplug wires, wouldn't shutoff untill he pinched off the fuel line
I have a clip of it after he put a cowl to clear the carb and painted it nice. It looked good on the outside, but a chain wrapped around the driver's exhaust manifold down to the chassis was not my idea of well built.
I have a video clip that im putting up on google video as we speak, but it will probably take a day or so to get approved.
My take, if you have the motor, it can work, but there are a lot better choices (stroked windsors or 385 series motors).
If you want to check out my Fox look at the Thunder int eh Valley 2007 Video i also have hosted. Should show up on the side bar when you watch the FE Stang video. My Car is the grey GT with the Gay chrome flares on the back. She's all stock but i had fun, and went a few rounds into the eliminations till i missed 2nd >:
cool idea, but what mounts/k-member was used? the 385 stuff to bolt into a fox is different than the FE also is he just running regular manifolds? still, again cool idea keep it going !! post more pics !!
