fed up with MAACO!! need good shop for central jersey

I had my black GT repainted about 2 years ago at Maaco and am regretting it BIG time! First of all, I paid them extra to fix my rust spots, and about a year into the paint job the spots started coming through again. In total, I paid like $1200 for the paint/CC combo and fixing the rust spots. I should have saved my money and gone somewhere else. Now I need to find a good shop to fix the rust spots and then repaint the affected areas. Does anyone now of a good shop in central Jersey (I'm in Eatontown) that will do a good job fixing the rust, repainting those areas for a decent price? My Pony rims could also use a good paint job.

I'm not sure what you mean by "decent price". From my perspective when it comes to body work "you get what you pay for". I had my cowl hood and a new trunklid w/ spoiler painted 10 years ago by Dave Sano in Dayton,NJ. The color match was and still is perfect. FYI, Dave does not do collision work, only restorative and custom painting. His shop is on Georges Road in Dayton and is named Sano's Custom Paint. You won't be sorry. He is about 2 miles from exit 8A on the turnpike.

Well, I guess what I mean is that I paid about $1200 for the paint job from Maaco (which was supposed to include the rust being fixed), so I'd like whatever fixing needs to be done now to get rid of the rust and rotouch to be less to or equal, but not more than that. Honestly, if I had known that Maaco was gonna do such a crappy job of it I would have NEVER brought the car there and would have paid more elsewhere.

im not saying maaco is good, but i heard it will turn good if you prep the car right yourself

i have seen some ok paint jobs come out of macco. but those people did the prep themselfs.

Basically a paint job is only as good as the foundation, if it is well prepped, and CLEAN before it gets painted, then chances are it will come out that much better, the way that maaco works is like any other shop, you get what you pay for, if you pay for the prep time it will get done, if you don't want to pay then it won't by the way 1200 is dirt cheap for rust repair and a complete paint job, and unless you completely replace the entire panel, rust repair will not last forever, if you got a year out of a 1200 dollar paint job then i would say you did well.

Well like I said I was happy with how the paint job came out (besides some drip marks ) but it's the rust thats really upsetting me. I mean its not just one spot either, its a couple on the hatch, both fender wells on the drivers side, and some other various little spots on the car. How would I even prep this myself so it would be rust free for even several years without cutting out metal and welding in new?? And how much would a reputable shop charge to fix all these rust issues once and for all and put down a good paint job....$5 large? I guess you really gotta be a fanatic in love with your car to lay out that kinda cash! I'd rather sell the car, and put that money down on a new mustang.

well basically you would be looking at 35-5 yes, have you brought it back to the maaco that painted it at and asked about cost to repair it again? it's black so it should match no problem, Thats what i would do.. until you can either replace the car, or the panels in question..
