fender alignment

I just replaced my passenger fender and I'm having some trouble getting it re-aligned. Are there any tricks to this that I'm missing? I'm trying to get it ready for paint and was hoping I could get the damaged parts replaced myself to save me some money. Thanks

There should have been spacers where the fender attached under the side skirt and where it attached in the engine bay. Those are the only places I had alignment issues when I replaced a fender. Is this an OEM fender, or a cheaper aftermarket fender? Some aftermarket fenders will never fit right. Mine was an OEM fender, same color (black), and it fit fairly easily.

What part isn't fitting right?

its an OEM fender that I got from the junkyard. My problem is getting the correct door gap(too close so the door won't open). There was one spacer that was on the bottom by the side skirt but nothing up by the engine bay.

The engine bay bolts and bottom of the fender bolts control the door gap. You have to manhandle the fender into position then tighten these down. Then use the two bolts behind the door tocontrol how well the fender follows the contour of the door.

On my car I had to change teh passenger fender because the car was in an accidnet and the fender was toast. The two months behind the door were bent slightly giving me a huge door gap. I just removed the fender to bend these and put it back together and it went OK. Takes a little time and a lot of thinking and you will get a good result.
