A fendermount is better. The "shortram" sucks up hot air from the radiator and headers, I'd rather run the stock airbox. Actually the stock air box with the silencer removed and a K&N air filter works just as well as a CAI, it is a CAI system actually.

i read the air in the engine compartment is only about 5 degrees hotter then the air that the fenderwell takes in so the fenderwell is just a waste

Alot hotter than that. When I first got my water temp. gauge I had to get a different adapter and I had the probe sitting where the airbox would sit but on the oppisite side and when I was driving along it was registering 160* sitting in traffic. That could make quite a difference espically when launching from a stop.

Just think about it... In side the engine conpartment with the real hot exhaust and intake... Or in the fenderwell where there really is nothing thats hot ..just air...

can anyone explain how to take off the silencer from the stock air intake?
