Well, let me try to get all my questions in one thread to save space. The car is a 1995 Mustang GT CONVERTIBLE with a 5 SPEED CONVERSION. First, I was told that all cars come from the factory with the rear defrost wiring whether or not it has the defrost option. So I went hunting for the wiring and found nothing. The only thing I see is a connecter thats up against the body near the rear shock tower on the drivers side that goes to nothing and its sitting next to another connecter that is plugged in. I figured mabye I could need another extension harness that plugs into that to make it work but then I checked the passenger side and there is no wiring over there at all. Does anyone have pics of a vert with rear defrost or know where the wiring goes. Next, what is this plastic thing that comes out from the center of the Dash with a metal wire attached to it.....

Also what is this light for. It wasnt hooked up to my console at all and there are two other wires coming off the connecter at the harness that go to nothing. What do those other two wires go to. Im assuming the light may have been for the auto shifter bezel lights.

Thanks for your help guys.

I did the swap in the 90's, so its been awhile, but I think the cable had something to do with some "no start in gear type of lockout". light was for illuminatign the letters on the shifter, two wires are foggy to me
good luck

Ok where does this no start in gear thing go to and can I remove it? Also someone mentioned to me that when you do a 5 speed swap you need a 5 speed trans harness. Is this the harness that runs along the floor pans that I can see or is this the other one that is up close to the front of the dash?

the plastic piece with the metal cable going thru it is the shift interlock cable. if it is pulled out you should be able to turn the key and leave it alone.

the tranny harness is actually under the hood on the firewall on the passenger side. its a big square plug and the wiring you replace goes to the tranny on the driverside by the bellhousing.

So if I remove this cable will it cause problems? I can start the car without pushing the clutch in even though the clutch safety switch is attached to the clutch pedal and is hooked up. I need to fix this so I can go to the track.

Do you know anything about those other two wires that are on the same connector as the shifter bezel light? If there useless now then Im gonna cut them but I dont want to find out that there is something else they go to later. thanks

Those two wires that are on the same connector as the shifter bezel light wouldnt have anything to do with the overdrive button would they?
