FF&MM latest issue - 4.6 Mod motor with Hooker LT's 38HP ???

Just noticed an article in the latest FF&MM on a 4.6 mod motor where they installed bolts on etc. One being Hooker LT's with a 3" collector ( I think they were 1 5/8 dia - not sure). It made 38 hp over the stock exhaust headers. and I believe the torque was increase but I can't remember - should have bought the mag.

Wow, didn't think LT's would make that much difference. You here MAC & BBK advertise 20-25hp, but when you see an actual dyno results printed in a national mag. makes you wonder.

Those are amazing numbers for n/a mod motor. Was it a sohc or a dohc?

hookers dont have a colector flange like the BBK MAC

I thought they had a classic style flange

this would = un interupted flow out of the header

Keep in mind that the headers on a 4.6L are pretty crappy to begin with, worse than what came on a 5.0 (because the 4.6L is so wide, there's a lot less room to fit headers in). So it's not surprising that there's a lot of room to improve.

I believe it was a sohc, it wasn't a Cobra.

Listened to your exhaust clip, and love the sound of your LT's with the DR. Gas O/R pipe. I'll probably do your exhaust setup once I get some new rims & tires on.
