fiberglass cowl hood

I was going to use a fiberglass hood...everyone from the body guy and the guys on here suggested that I go a different way. I ended up using my original metal hood, cutting a hole in the top and using a Shelby/Branda hood scoop. Looks good and keeps the car a little cooler.

I'm (still) close to ordering my teardrop hood from Crites. It's a lot of money for any fiberglass hoods and based on the posts I have seen and the disclaimers on various websites it seems that you are in the lap of the gods as to what quality you will receive. I'm a little nervous about this.

As an alternative I have considered buying the fiberglass teardrop, cutting a hole in my existing hood and screwing / glassing it on, for a stronger, straighter job. Can anyone point to a good website or set of instructions from glassing a hood scoop on. Thanks.

Interested here as well with the fiberglass hoods.

Does anyone know where I can buy a hood scoop and mold it to my steal hood?

But there's a catch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the look and over all width the fiberglass hoods you can purchase from mustangunlimited and others, but can't find a scoop to match.

Anyone?

so anybody actually own one like that that can tell me on the fit of these hoods. also what prop rod would u guys recomend for this hood, ive heard bad things about the lightweight springs for fiberglass hoods

I have a shelby style from branda and the fit was pretty good. He urged me to buy the maroon gel coat one because it was a better fit. I only had to fit the edges and was impressed with the overall fit. It did have some waves in it and I blocked it several times to get those out. I had to do some work on the bottom side to make it presentable, but it still has the fiberglass matte look on the majority of it.

Overall I was very impressed with the fit of their parts and the honesty I got from asking them questions. He told me which parts would require work and which ones would not.

So, do you research and ask questions on here (or do a search) and you will find people with good and bad experiences.
