after changing my spark plugs, fuel filter, pcv valve, cleaning my very dirty k&n, i figured out the problem. it was my spark plug wires. thanks to every one who helped me out. my 98 cobra now has a lot more power.

Me too !! Mine turned out to be a dirty MAF.
I cleaned it with a q-tip soaked in alcohol.
The old girl is running great now !!
I can't find the thread where that was recommended, but thanks to the poster !!

FYI; A multimeter is a really good tool in diagnosing bad plug wires. I pulled my plugs a couple of weeks ago and checked the resistance on each wire. There will be some variance related to the length of each wire, however all you are looking for is a big change. E.g.: On my FRPP 9mm wires, I have resistance ranging from 1.98 to 3.5. 1.98 was on a very short wire (< 8 inches) and the 3.5 was on the longest wire. If I had a wire with oh say 5+, I would have guessed it to be suspect and visually inspected the wire closely.
