I decided to start my own thread instead of jacking isqwesms:

Sorry... and Thanks by the way!

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=608041

I had meant to post everything when it was done, but I couldn't resist.

Anyway, It's all wired up (except the door lock solonoids), and everything worked first try.

I threw some dropcloths over it to get a couple night shots, but only one came out of the AC switch:

Here is a pass side shot:

Next project(s) is to tear the doors apart and:

Rig the door lock solonoids in there and Put in new felts

While i'm working on the drivers door I have a new regulator to put in and a set of hinge pins with bushings.

Any tips?

Here is a question: What is the material inside the window tracks that helps it glide up and down? Is it Mohair? Can I buy that type material (whatever it is...) at an upholstery shop and glue in new stuff?

Thanks! :SNSign:

Tim, looks awesomeman. only suggestion i have is recover the ribbed center section of the door panels in the same materialas the seats and console to better tie the interior together. can't help you out on the window question, but i've always thought it was just part of the weatherstripping.

Thanks!

I started getting the stuff together in October, but only got the rough wood frame put together 'til after the holidays. (had a lot of stuff going on)

But got a lot of it done in just the last week.

If I put a couple hours in each day, I coulda done it in 2-3 weeks I think.

By the way Tim.... If you haven't put those seats in my non-stock seat DB please do, there's a place where you can upload your pic and everything.

Thanks for all the great comments!

The seats are '88 mustang GT seats as posted in page 3 of iskwesms thread I jacked:

There are pictures and info on my seat swap there.

I actually had a factory console in the car when I got it back in '99. It was the short type, because it had the factory installed underdash AC unit.

Besides the rear ashtray and courtesy light, it had no real purpose other than to look stylish. (Got nice $$$ on ebay for the console and AC unit)

I wanted a console that incorporated a few things:

1. Storage (since the Vintage Air unit halved the space of my glove box)
2. Cupholders (here in the desert Southwest you don't get caught without liquid refreshment and spilling it once on my new carpet was all it took)
3. A better place for the center AC vents other than the tacky plastic things that came with the Vintage Air kit.
4. A switch for the AC. ('cause I like to be able to control when the compressor kicks in, not where the cable levers are placed)
5. A place for the door lock switch. (The window switches were a might as well for future upgrades.
6. A external surface that wouldn't hurt when you hit your elbow on it.
7. A comfy arm rest that won't burn your arm in the summer.:nice:

I did some research on the web and saw what others were doing as far as technique and materials, and came up with a design that fit my needs.
