While on vacay in San Diego last month, the rental car company issued me a 2019 Ecoboost convertible with an automatic trans. This was my first experience driving a turbo engine car and it surprised me with its power spread and the transmission function. Just tooling around town did not disappoint me. Gassing the thing from a start didn't reveal any turbo lag or transmission faults. I left the trans in drive and didn't use the paddles once all week. Smoked a couple of Ricers at lights with no difficulty. The handling was just like my 2016 v6 auto that I owned for awhile-little bit of oversteer under a slight amount of throttle. Mucho fun on the Ca79 mountain road into the Borrego state park. The only thing that I disliked was the tires-W rated Pirelli P-Zero Nero. Those things beat that car up over potholes and expansion strips horribly. I'm not surprised there was a rattle in the dash. My v6 car had V rated Goodyear F1's Assymetrics and those would be my choice for a replacement tire. Better ride with still good handling. Neat little car. I got 30 miles per gallon of regular for an average during the week. The weather was so bad that week we never lowered the top the whole time we were there. Local weathermen joked about the area's weather in May and June-go in the fall was their advice. On to Utah probably next summer and I'll request an Ecoboost to drive.

My tires are the base model 17s. They have been ok. I bought my 19 in December and drove through a couple snow events. No problems at all with the stock tires.

I just bought 20s from LMR and researching reviews for tires.

I don't remember the size of the rental car tires but I remember the horrible ride quality of those Pirellis. I don't think you really need a W speed rated tire in order to get the handling you're looking for. Others can chime in with their recommendations and opinions.

I couldn't wait to get rid of the stock Pirellis, my new Michelin Pilot Sport a/s 3+ are great on my 19" rims. Drive smooth, corner well...ready for the summer road trip.
