we took apart the filter after the first oil change at 100 miles and i saw a good amount of material. there was alot of the copper color which is from the bearings. we put a magnet to it and a bunch stuck to it. heres a pic of all that came out of it.
is this alarming?

wow...I never took apart my oil filter when I did my first oil change so I coulden't tell you if thats normal or not. But it sure looks like a lot of crap doesnt it? I'm sure someone has done this with a new motor and they will chime in. To be honest, if you rings are seated i woulden't worry about it just yet.

According to a buddy of mine its normal after a fresh build. Just keep remembering to use the correct weight oil.
