I am hopping to finally start some work on my mustang this fall. I was looking for suggestions on where to start. I have already stripped most of the interior. Next is to finish removing the rest of the interior and then the engine and trans. I was planning to send it out for media blasting so I could see what I have to work with and then start panel replacement. Does this sound about right?

If you have any obviously bad rusted spots (floorboards, cowl, torqu box, etc) I would replace those before having the media blasting done. That is unless you plan on priming the car immediately after it gets blasted to keep the rust under control.

I would also recommend that as you remove everything, you bag and tag every last part and DO NOT throw anything away until you have passed that point of the reassembly.

+1 on bagging and tagging everything. And take pictures, its hard to figure out what some odd parts and brackets are 2-5 years later.

And like robbz28 said, you've got to primer asap after media blasting.

You may also want to look into soda blasting instead of media blasting. If the guy running the gun is not careful they can cause you more issues by warping the metal with sand or other media. You may also want to have it blasted in smaller sections. I plan to do the underside of the car first so I can finish it correctly and once I am done with that move to the body. I am sure it will cost me a little more but I also know that I have limited time to work on it. +1 on the bagging, pictures and videos.

After you pull the engine, the Shelby 1" drop is so easy. There are many posts on the topic.
It makes you car handle much better and parts cost $0.00.
