First Time At The Track

Well after driving a 5-speed for about a month now I went to the track yesterday. I managed to get a 14.7 on the best run with a 2.3 60' and 15.8 on the worst (that is watching the other car instead of my light, by the time my light was green I took off w/o launching. I took off like I would take off away from a stop light and horribly missing third. I will post pictures of the time slip a little later.

I have a few question. First when I am in the burnout box and start to power brake only one wheel spins. I just got clutch packs put in which I thought would help this problem. When I pop the clutch both wheels spin. What would cause this? Could the traction lock be going bad?
And
On my way to the track I notice my car starts to shake petty bad. You can feel the vibrations through the shifter. One of my welds is really bent on the back but I dont think it would make the car shake that bad. It really only seems to shake when I get over 2,500 rpm in fifth. I never feel this shake as I drive it everyday in mostly city driving. Its only on the highway I feel this. I have never noticed it before but I just got 3.73's in it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I do have a few questions

Those are good times for a starter. I remember taking my car to the track for the first time and it was less than a month for me behind a 5 speed. I only had 3.73s, O/R h-pipe, flows, and the elevation here is 3300ft above sea level with air making it b/t 3500-4000ft. My best time was 15.3 @ 92mph. I was shifting at 4800 :bang: Didn't know where to shift at.

I have vibration on the hwy around 2200-2500 also. I probably need to have my driveshaft balanced or get a Ford Racing aluminum on for $159.

Your powerbraking? At the edge of the water I just put it in 3rd, or 2nd and drop the clutch at 4000+rpm and that bust them loose and when they start to grip I know they have heated up some. Sometimes I have to apply the brake some to keep from going down the track but at least get them broken loose first. Check your rear brakes for adjustment and operation, maby one brake is working alot better than the other. Otherwise it's your track-loc.

What tires are you running? What air pressure? Maby you are dropping the clutch at too high of an rpm. Try launching like you were just doing a daily drive and then increasing RPM little by little. Also, I've noticed that a fast clutch release is better than a slow one because weight gets transfered better.

Vibration in the shifter is most likley a driveshaft problem. See what new U-joints and an balance will cost you, and compare it to the FMS aluminimum one. It's used to be a waste to fool with the stocker but now that the price has jumped on the FMS I don't know.

Hey my car has 131,000 miles on it and I took it to the track for the first time last weekend. AOD mind you and ran 14.62@96mph. I thought it was pretty good. But I am going again next week and putting my Nitto Drag radials on. I has street tires on and spun off the line a little and also had by kicker box in the back that has 2x12' subs in it :)
