I want to convert my 1992 lx to five lug. Whats the easiest and cheapest way to do it? Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I really want to go this way: North Racecars Brake Solutions, but money is an issue.

Here's some more links. Read through them several times, there's a lot of info there. Then if you still have questions, I'm sure there's someone here that can help.

Some people do it just cux they want a better selection of wheels. Others do it because of a better selection of brake combos. Others do it because everybody else is doing it.

I did it for the 4 wheel disc big brake upgrade, and my car stops on a dime, half the distance of a regular Foxbody brake set up. Plus the 18x10 deep dish wheels on my car look insanely sick.... The much better question is why the hell wouldnt you want to??????? There are nothing but a lot of positive results that come from it.

Fast cars have got to have good brakes bro, I dont know about yours but Ive got wayyyy to much time and money in my car to afford the risk of a crash over ****ty brakes because Im too cheap to upgrade. Not saying you are at all, i know Ive been there, but youve got to pay to play. A sweet stereo and an awesome set of wheels isnt **** if your car cant stop well when needed.

I wouldnt mind a brake upgrade. Its a daily driver, not really looking for speed. I'm running 17s in the rear and 16s in the front.

slap some ranger axles and drums in it, and use the lincoln rotors. you just cant run any wheel with a small center cap, bullit, fr500, saleen, etc. you can run oem 94-99 wheels though.

Stock Fox Brakes are absolutely horrible! It took a deer running out in front of me to finally make the change to SN95 Brakes, best mod I have done to the car!

I 100% agree, the stock Fox brakes are terrible, they probably exhibit the worst brake fade Ive ever felt, even with slotted or drilled rotors and nice pads. Did you keep the stock drum brake setup in the rear or convert the rear to disc brake when you did the SN95 front swap??? Im running the SN95 spindles with a 1999 rotor and the 2003 dual piston PBR calipers, stock 95 rear disc set up with the North Race cars brackets and the FMS adjustable proportioning valve... And that bastard will stop shorter than my roomate 2006 Camry, pretty damn impressive. I think I have less than $400 in the entire 5 lug 4 wheel disc conversion done this way. The biggest PITA about the whole swap was having to pull out the E-brake assembly from the center console and cut the tensioning spring out of the center of it to install the correct ebrake cables. But I have heard of several people that wait to upgrade brakes until after they wreck, which in my opinion is too late.

Stock fox brakes blow. 99% of everything on the road can outstop you. Hell, a lot of passenger sedans these days come with dual piston calipers and 12"+ rotors. My G35 has 13" front and 12.1" rear and stops on a dime.

Only a matter of time before someone in front of you with a "superior" brake setup stops short for a yellow light and you rear end them with your "antique" 11" rotors and rear drums. Gonna suck explaining to your friends how you rear ended a Camry because he out-braked you in a panic stop situation


I put my own M2300K kit together and haven't looked back. Stock fox brakes in 2009 are dangerous.
