flame thrower

installing auto loc flame thrower, looking for the right wire to splice into from coil pax. I found a red with light green wire coming from fuse number 18. has anybody installed this before? is this the right wire?

ok the install is complete everything is fully functional. the flame thrower modual works properly by shuting of the spark momentarily, and the plugs spark at the end of my pipes, but there is no flame any suggestions? and yes i have an O/R x pipe.

Well, if there is no flame, then its not fully functional yet Perhaps take the plugs out of the exhaust and make sure they firing? Is there enough of a super-rich condition to ignite the exhaust? To test to see if its right enough I guess you could go get a grille electro lighter deal (used for inside gas grilles) and put it at the end of the pipe and use that to try to light it, or hell, a propane torch would work too.

Dont you have to have some kind of fuel source for those spark plugs to light, if you 01 is working correctly you will not be rich enough to do the flame thing...

To work I assume the kits need to richen your fuel/air somehow, so there will be some gas to burn

well supposedly the kit turns of the spark in the engine letting unburnt gas run down the exhuast and then lit by the spark plugs in the tail pipes. I guess i might have to get a dyno tune to richen my a/f ratio. or is there another way to do this

I've made my own flame thrower kits on cars with distributors before, nothing with coil packs. But basically what i did was turn the spark on with one switch, then rev the engine up to about 4k rpm, and flick the other switch i had OFF to turn the ignition off and floor the gas pedal. It would dump gas in thinking its still running and would shoot a flame out the back, then you can flip the ignition switch on and off to take the revs back up to do it again.

try it when you have let the car sit for a while. It seemed to be about the only time it would do it on my friends tercel lol

Did you order the complete kit online or peice it together yourself? I personally wouldn't install it on my car but it would be kind of cool to see

I've always loved the kits but everyone always told me its kind of ricey, and I listened to them I think those things look cool as hell!

First of all why do you feel inclined to post at all if you are just gonna tell me its a Ghey idea.

Second of all hot rods were using the flame thrower idea way before imports were even sold in the us. Just becuase they used it in a ricer movie does not mean its rice. So please dont reply to my post if your just gonna rip on my car
