Flames Out the Exuast

Hey i heard that thay have some kind of system that the u put on yur tail pipes to have flames comes out the ends? Is that true or do u just need to have 700hp dragster. If u know wat system it is please send the link.

I'm not sure what the link is, but you can do a search on it and find it. It is a kit that they sell, and you have to have an off-road pipe for it to work.

I've seen people hook up spark plugs in their exhaust and send an electrical current to them with the push of a button. A rev of the gas and a push of the button would create flames out the back.

I belive that you have to have a carburator. When you press the button you make it the engine run rich and unburned fuel get shot out the back exhaust where there are spark plugs, which causes the flame . You have to change your oil more frequently because the fuel washes it off the cylinder walls.
Oh yeah its illegal too.

It's called a flamethrower exhaust and I've seen it done two ways.

One is to tap a fuel line and run it to a fine jetted nozzle mounted in a hole in the exhaust tip.
The other is similar but uses small 1lb bottles of propane (like for camping stoves).

In both cases, the fuel is regulated by a valve similar to ones used in Nitrous setups. The spark can be delivered with a spark plug mounted behind (closer to the tailpipe outlet) the nozzle.

Look on ebay - there are kit for sale there.

I really don't suggest this as a DIY job, especially if you're talking about cutting fuel lines and re-reouting them.

My dad has it set up on his Dunebuggy. I believe all he has is spark plugs in the exhaust hooked up each to a separate coilpack, then hooked to a switch. It's carburated though so I know it's different. All he does is give it a bit of gas, and 5-6 foot flames shoot out. Won a couple of flame contests at car shows with it.

I did see that kit the other day. Looks like it'll work to me. Seems the only real difference with our cars is that you need a relay...

I know a kid with a turbo subaru that has a small blue flame come out the back of his, It all does it on its own, its when he shifts. no idea how or why it does it but he didn't have to do anything aftermarket to get the flames.

I didn't believe him till i drove behind him at night, by the way i raced him and the mustang handed it to him.

The kits work like this. Sparkplug is hooked up inside the tailpipe. Press a button, turns off ignition, spark plug sparks, unburned gas ignites, ignition turns back on. 99% sure

someone had a video up on stangnet for a while i believe. i personally wouldnt do it, and if someone shot flames while next to me, id prolly laugh (if it was an import, ricer, or riced out stang), then smoke him in a race. if it was a nicely done show stang, or a mustang thats tastefully modded, then i prolly would compliment him on being different.

btw.. every time i hear about these flames, it reminds me of the FF race scenes where they are lined up to race, and all of them shoot flames the same color as their cars...

Saw it on spike tv. Don't want to hold that button in for too long though, all that unburned fuel does, as mentioned earlier, washh off the oil in the cylinder.

To say it's rice is hilarious, because people have been doing it for years on lead sleds. Hell, my dad had it on the dunebuggy in '85. And it's been around alot longer than that.

It's just a 3 way switch and some spark plugs and coil packs. Give it a bit of gas, hit the 3 way, (turns the ignition off and the coil packs on), then click it back before the engine dies. pretty simple. With our cars, you'd need the kit because of the relay.
