Well learned my lesson don't go with an offroad x pipe when you have flowmaster's, that damn thing is raspy as hell around 2,500 to 3,000 wonder if it will get any better?? Gotta give props to Brenspeed they are awesome. Ordered my x tues and got it yesterday. I am thinking about putting on the pypes race convertors and see if that helps. Any suggestions ?

They call that "Trumpeting"

I have the same problem that you have, but mine is with the Pypes O/R H-Pipe. I too purchased my items from Brenspeed (which by the way I agree that they have great service). I called them back to get an idea of what I could do to fix this problem (raspyness). They told me this comes from the variable cam timing and is called "trumpeting". Their suggested fix for this was to install a set of High-Flow CATS, which they sell. I posted a thread on my disappointment in the sound and people recommended installing a set of headers or installing some resonators. I purchased some Pypes M-80 Resonators from JEGS, both shipped were like $100. I haven't had the chance to install these yet, but from what everyone says, these should take care of the problem. I bet you your car sounds like the link below!

That is exactly how mine is i am gonna try the pypes cat's and see how they work
hopefully it will be alot better. Don't know how much longer i can listen to it around 2,500 and 3,00 rpm's. These cars def. are not like the fox's (as far as how they sound) but oh well.

Why not resonators

Lol i wish mine was "just right" i called Brenspeed and they have the "race" convertors for 149.99 i think i am going to try that, i hope it works !!!

Depending on how long you can wait, I'm going to be installing some resonators into my O/R H-Pipe on Friday. Even though it's H vs X, I would think that you may be able to tell if resonators fix the problem. Resonators would be less expensive and have unrestricted flow and High Flow CATS, I think, restrict the flow some.

I was about to order a O/R X pipe, now I am second guessing this. Has anyone used the O/R X or H pipe with the stock mufflers. I would be interested in peoples feed back on the sound with that setup.

Ok well to update everyone i gutted the factory h-pipe and its perfect so far !!! Sounds great so lol anyone wanna buy a o/r x lol.

OK, at the risk of sounding like a total tard. How does one gut the factory h-pipe? I've never done this before, so I have no first-hand experience. Do you just take a long straight bar and pound it thru the packing, then pull/push/shake all of that stuff out? If that's how it's done, then it basically becomes an O/R H-Pipe with "unpacked chamber" Resonators.

I have a pypes offroad x pipe and their mid muffler kit. It does get raspy at around the same RPM, but it sounds down right awesome. It's so freaking loud! Just right.

any sound clips?

I have o/r x-pipe and mac axle back so it's basically the same thing....it's a bit much for myself but my wife likes it alot and it gets many compliments so i guess that's why I haven't done anyhting, i'd like a mid muffler set up though.

What i used is a long pry bar and kept tapping it in the cat and break the material into small
pieces and then just shake it out, you can check your progress with a flashlight to make sure
it's all out. Make sure the o2's are out of it though LOL !!
