what is the best way to secure the flywheel when trying to torque down the bolts.

Try using a 15/16" socket with a long breaker bar on the harmonic balancer bolt. That will keep the engine from turning, but you may need a helper to hold onto the breaker bar.

I usually just use an impact gun and forget about torque specs. Just make sure it is putting out enough pressure to be around the torque spec.

If you don't feel comfortable with that, best thing is to put the balancer and 15/16 bolt in the front of the crank and then torque.

That's what I do, but I just rest the breaker bar on something in the engine bay so I don't need a buddy to help haha.

thanks I will try those. I was thinking about doing the impac gun with no torque, but this is only my second clutch install and the first on a foxbody.. do not want to mess it up.
My 03 I was able to stuff a screwdriver inbetween the teeth and my MC but that was not working for me last night.

I used a long prybar spanned between two flywheel dowel pins with the handle pushing against the underside of the car.
