Wow, what a horrible disapointment. I used the M-6680-A valve cover bolts and broke half of them on the first valve cover! The studs are extremely weak!

Hummm....I used the same and not a problem...You must be to rugged.... I screwed the stud in then just tightened em to a decent TQ with one hand only....not a 2 hand tighten on VCs...
I had to redo after the initial run as I had a leak...re-did em and nada since...

Yep, those are the ones I'm using. Now I have to get two of the broken ones out of the cylinder head!

I took a dremel tool and grinded in a notch so I could get a screw driver on it and back it out. The stud is so soft that the screw driver just strips out the metal.

If memory serve's me correctly...dont those have a Phillips screw on the stud?? you sneak then in tight, than snug the nut...'
Either way, breaking em blows...They're not cheap...like 12.00 a pkg and you need 3 pkg's ???
What kinda VCs you get???

They did have a phillips drive on the top, but that broke off.

I got a set of Ford Racing valve covers, the ribbed EFI ones that say Ford Racing. Hopefully I'll have pics of them installed today.

just outta curiousity, did you need to run a spacer??

I do now. My valve covers cleared everything perfectly, didn't even have to notch around the alternator. They're alot shorter then the 4" tall valve covers but the bracket 1/2" off, so I guess I'll have to go buy a spacer now. That means I'm going to have to ditch the hood blanket too since I'm running out of clearance.
