okay...little confusing I know...but the 'entire pump' that you bought doesn't just swap with your current pump. The mechanic has to actually open up your stock pump, and take out the little metal pump contained in the white plastic and swap that with what's inside of the Focus pump...the housing/wiring/hosing still remains stock

hope that helps

Also...i've always heard that it's a good idea to drill some holes in the bottom of the white plastic housing...to allow more gas in there...someone was complaining that you shouldn't go below a 1/4 tank of gas when you're FI w/ a Focus Pump before...so I've always been cautious w/ mine and fill up at 1/2 tank because I didn't drill the holes

just kidding

Ya he is right. The housing it self wont fit but the pump will. Take it back and explain or do it your self. Some times shops wont replace a part unless it is a factory replacement because of warranty issues.

The "other" pump is the same pump as the focus pump. LOL

I was always told not to go below a 1/4 tank also. The best thing to do, when you have the money to do it, is a Cobra Tank and pumps. Should be more than enough fuel for you and it has more bellows (sp?) in it to keep from getting air pockets in the tank.

one thing you need to watch-out for is there are 5 Different Focus fuel pumps but ONLY 1 is the SVT Focus pump, so before you have it installed, make sure you got the right-one....Ford part # 3S4Z-9H307-BC, anything else is just wrong
