Well its been a little rainy here in Southern california and my fog lights seem to be leaking a litte. One has blown out and both have obvious mosture in them. I talked about it in a different post but i did not want to hijack it. So if i take out my fogs can i take the lense off and dry out the inside. I would like to clean them up and polish them too because they are a little yellowish. Then could i just put them back together and seal them up with silicone? Whats the best way to go about this?

Just put a bead of silicone around the lens. If you do it good you wont have to take it apart again. Maybe a little rubber boot type deal over the light plug to keep moisture from entering the rear (lol).

They are not supposed to. What happened to my fog lights is that the bulb dryed and craked the housing. I pulled them, cleaned them as best as I could and then silioconed the cracks. This has happened 2-3 times since owning the car in '94. I even had the dealership replace the fogs under factory warranty the first time.

It seems to me that one can buy new lenses alone, no (am I thinkin of something for the fox?). If so, someone might think they should come apart.

John, I feel your pain - I simply dont use them if it's wet out (I have to say that even with slightly brighter bulbs in them, they're still useless).

If there going out upgrade to one with a clear lense. They work so much better than stock. I couldent tell when mine were on or not. Now w/ clear lenses there almost better than my stock headlights (soon to be replaced also).

Well i took them out and sure enough one had a hariline crack on the top and bottom and one had a hairline crack on the bottom. So first i polished the **** out of them. Then i took silicone and sealed up the cracks and then ran a bead around where the lense attaches to the housing. So they are drying now and hopefully should be pretty damn water tight.

I repaired mine a few years ago. Taped off the lens and coated the whole housing with undercoating spray. Wow, that stuff is nasty.... anyway, it held for a few years, and I blew another bulb. Tired of spending that much on bulbs, so I stopped using them all together. I've converted to smoked headlights and license plate cover on the front. I plan to order some clears and cut out some window tint, not too dark, just enough to show a little shade to them and try that. It should make for a small protective coating on the front of the lens, and help them match a little better.
