i have an '88 gt...and the fog lights short out and i have the one page on corral.net...but i know someone who just ran one of the wires from the fog light switch and ran it to the headlight switch, and supposedly it works fine. i was wondering if doing that would make anything else short out or something.

The relay helps to reduce the voltage drop across the wiring and makes the fog lights brighter. It also enables you to reuse much of the factory wiring. I would highly recommend that you stick with the Corral wiring scheme.

I have a similar mod done to my GT, the major difference being the relay location and some of the power feed wiring for the foglights.

Here's the link if you still want to do it.
SEE http://www.corral.net/tech/maintenance/foglights.html to fix the problem. The stock wiring isn't up to the job and is overheating. The headlight switch & turn/multifunction switch are affected by Ford's wiring problem. Sometimes it overheats so badly that the plastic shells of the wiring connectors start to melt. This will show you how to add a relay to the fog lights to relieve the overload on the headlight wiring.

The fog light switch sources power from the headlight circuit, so I dont see how that person fixed anything really.

Jrichker is right-on. The rewire takes 20 minutes or so and you'll be worry free after that.

Good luck.
