Why do the fog lights turn off when the high beams are on? How could it be wired to stay on and also would like the option of turning the fogs on with just the parking lights.

My car 96 (gt) has a viper alarm on it. I was wondering if it came stock like this or if this was later added? I ask this because there is a viper connector in the trunk that is not connected and I guess it was to pop the trunk open.

My alarm does not activate the lights when armed or disarmed either.

thanks for your help!

Foglights turning off is a safety issue, The manufacturer doesn;t want you blinding oncoming traffic. You can rewire them to work independently. And the Viper was not stock. My 96 came with a factory installed alarm..it was a Code Alarm with Ford Stamped on it.

I always thought it was just because people dont have on their brights when its fogy so they assume when you put on your brights you dont need your fog lights on.

that's correct. having the high beams on when in fog hurts more than it helps. you should never drive with the highbeams on in the fog. that's why the fog lamps turn off. plus the fog lamps would be pretty much useless when the high beams were on because they'd be over powered by the high beams.
