No one knows for sure but from an economical standpoint it would not make sense for Ford to release a Mach for 2005. The only reason Ford built the Spring Feature Edition GT (2000), Bullitt GT (2001), & the Mach (2003 & 2004) was to re-introduce the Stang to the market since people had become a tad bit bored of it. It was essentially the same car since 1979, just with new bodies thrown over it from time to time to try to keep people coming back. The made a major change in 1995 by dropping to the 4.6L, which actually effected sales quite negatively. Though in 1999 when the 35th Anniversary Edition GT came out, along w/ a revised 4.6L that produced 35HP more than the 1998 & a new body style people were quite interested in the Mustang. Ford knew that all that was not enough, however, which is why they released all the special edition Mustangs that we've seen since 1999. They don't need to do all of that again for quite a while as the new body style, engine, suspension, & just the total makeover of the Mustang for the first time in over 25 years has many buzzing over the new Stang. They are content right now & won't release even a Cobra, which will probably be called the Terminator, until 2006. They won't have the name Boss to use but will use Shelby. I personally don't find it likely that they will introduce the Mach again for at least 4 years. My honest guess is that we won't see a Mach again until about 2025.
Is there some kind of press release when ford did so? I searched and couldnt find anything on it.351CJ said:

True but it's quite likely that the name Cobra will be given to the new Replica Cobra based off the old Shelby 427 & Terminator will be the new name for what we now know as the Cobra Mustang.ryanrule said:

You are also assuming they are going to build that new Cobra. Which last I heard was not a definate. And after 10+ years using the Cobra for the SVT Mustang. There would seem to be enough reason to keep it for the SVT line. Of course you also have evidence with the power lease from SVT. Where they state you will have the right to buy an 07 Cobra. Especially when you look at Ford did not name the new GT as the GT-40 for trade name reasons. And the new concept gr-1 has also been associated with Shelby. And yet it is not being called the Cobra Daytona. Basically I would think we should keep from making assumptions about what names aare going to be used.

I would most certainly tend to agree. It is most def possible that SVT will keep the Cobra name for their top-of-the-line Mustang. But then again you never know.SVTdriver said:

You are also correct. You never know what will happen. But if you look at name recognition. The SVT mustang has been known as a Cobra for over 10 years now. And while the Shelby Cobra concept may also get the cobra name. I personally don't see a need for SVT to give up the name for the Shelby. No one is going to confuse the 2 cars. Yet renaming the SVT Cobra as the terminator. May end up with coprywrite issues (I thought that was the reason the name was only used for the project and not marketed as such.). And people not very involved in mustangs wondering when the Cobra will show up. Possibly thinking the terminator would be only a special edition.

Terminator is just the project name of the 03-04 Cobra. Daisy was the project name of the new Shelby Cobra. They are not used for marketing. But I wouldnt be confused if there was a Shelby Cobra, and a SVT Cobra, considering they would be two different cars.SVTdriver said:

Car companies hate spending an extra nickle on anything, especialy a license fee for a name. GM almost dropped the "Trans-Am" name several times because of the small license fee (I heard $20 / per Trans-Am) that they had to pay the SCCA to use it.

If they have a Ford GT and a Ford Mustang GT, why can't they have a Ford Cobra and a Ford Mustang Cobra?
