How in the heck did you get the main crank pulley off? It doesn't have threaded holes like every other main pulley I have ever dealt with and I am having difficulty getting the claw type puller inside the pulley.

Here's a write-up. If you ever want how-to information, check "The Ultimate Sticky" at the top of the tech section. It's a post loaded with all kinds of how-to's.

The how-to wasn't the issue. The pullers that I had were too big, and I haven't ever seen one like in the write up. Alas, a trip to sears to buy the smallest three jaw puller they had and some "mechanical persuasion" seemed to do the trick.

I guess it is too late, but I was able to rent a puller at Autozone that worked perfectly. Advance auto also has one.

You can pull from inside of the pulley too, not just the outside.

FYI

For anyone who would rather not grind or cut off the end of the factory alternator bolt/stud, here's a suggestion:

I have an 07, which has the stud. I took the nut off of the right side of the alternator and screwed it onto the left one (the one which needs to be trimmed). I tightened the two nuts against each other - created a jamb-nut setup. Then I simply unscrewed the inner nut, which unscrewed the stud from the block. Then I was able to use the new bolt which Steeda sent with the kit.

It worked flawlessly and avoided having to clean up metal shavings from the engine compartment.

I hope that helps someone!

The Steeda pullies come with with a different bolt for the alternator, btw. Something to think about when purchasing a set.

I borrowed a Chrysler pulley puller from AutoZone and it fit perfect. I used TacoBill's write-up, actually, since his was for Steeda pullies.

Rent the tool from Autozone. It's a Chrysler Harmonic Balancer Puller. I actually had to use some mechanical persuasion to get it to come off even with the tool. The bolt of the tool wasn't long enough so I had to fit a socket on the end of the bolt to get it to work.

The one I rented came with 2 different pins. I first tried the short one, but ran out of bolt. Use the longer pin.
