My '06 GT leaks. Water streams in from under the passenger side fuse box and has started growing mold under the carpet. I've been in for service 4x & 47 days total and the car still leaks. I filled an initial lemon law demand letter with Ford after the 3rd attempt.

After picking up the car & it still leaking, the General Manager of the dealership said the best course of action is to notify Ford that it still leaks & that would initiate a buyback/repurchase investigation.

Now, my question(s) are with the buyback/repurchase procedure...

-If Ford makes a buyback offer, do I receive money (which I then payoff my current loan & buy a new car from any dealership) or is my vehicle swapped out for a vehicle of equal value? Do I get a choice?

Essentially, even with this problem, I cannot bring myself to drive anything but another Mustang. So, I am more interested in if I would get a car of equal value, would I be getting another auto loan or does this "switch" with my current loan, or is it easier to just do a dealer trade-in (also an option, as the GM said he would give full trade-in value & invoice on a new car, plus current incentives).

Any feedback or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure of the buyback procedure, but I had the same problem with my 06 leaking. Fortunately, I had found on the internet people with the same problem whose dealers discovered a weld was missed or bad near the firewall during production. My car went into the dealer's body shop for a few days and hasn't leaked since. If the buyback doesn't work out for you, ths info may or may not be helpful in getting your leak fixed.

Here is a TSB on that problem. Your dealer should take care of it.

Thanks Adrenal... I know they only changed the window weather stripping, nothing else. The problem at this point is mold has been growing throughout the area for the past few months & the smell is bad enough to stick to your clothes if you're in the car for more than 5 minutes. They changed the carpeting & had it detailed but the smell still lingers.

Call Fords customer service number in the back of your owners manual. If you notify them of already filing lemon law paper work and the thought of mold growing should scare them into a buy back or swap for another car. It took me a couple months to get what I wanted from Ford for their screw ups (wish they would have just given me another car though). Just be patient but firm. Don't give up and they will give in. BTW, have your wife call. A pissed off woman can get anything done! haha
