How good are they? Anyone use one before? Is the stage 2 worth 275 dollars and will it work with my car. Fordchip.com has them.

I have a stage one(I'm assuming)........I would compare mine to a Superchip......adds some, but for that kind of money I would go with a custom Diablo.......

The reason I am asking is because with my automatic I need something so I do not bounce off the rev limiter between shifts so I am clueless how this all works and how a chip can fix it?

I would say wait for an SCT tuner to come to your area and just get that, it is much better than a mail order chip. The guy that makes FordChip also does the SCT tunes.

I had fordchip reflash my computer for my 4.10's. I talked to one of the guys about wanting firmer shifts and different shift tables so I had to get a stage two chip. I got the chip but then I found out my service port was disabled. Fordchip asked me to ship the whole computer to them and they would solder in some jumpers to activate the port and they would have it back to me in a week. Well, after checking with them for two weeks and getting the run around about when to get my computer back, I got someone on the phone who said they would just go ahead and reflash the computer for me instead. One and a half weeks after that, I finally had my computer back. But, I can say that the car shifted awesome even though I was without my daily driver for almost a month.

So id have to skip that option anything else that will work better, will the hypertech or superchip modules work?? Im only looking to firm the shifts up and not have my RPM's raise so fast my computer doesnt recognize it and not be able to keep up. Thanks for your help so far keep it comin.

Hi iam new to this site but there is a thing you can get called a shift plus made
by B&M that you just hook up like 3 wires and it is a 3way switch for stock, strip
street modes it helps. another thing you can do is to get a 98 aode valve body and or just get a proformance trans fluid and a shif kit these things will all help and you will
feel more than what that chip can do

The last thing you want is an electronic shift kit like the B&M. It's total garbage.

Get a 99+ valve body (i.e.:main control) and do the Jerry Mod to it. The 99+ valve bodies already come with the better parts installed.

You should really wait until you get gears to flash the EEC or buy a chip. If not, you'll have to do it over again.
