lets talk about an 3560lb all motor 5.0 liter 412hp modular vs. a supercharged 4.6 liter 3700lb modular.

termi = 425hp/3665 lbs = 8.623 lbs/hp

2011gt= 412hp/3560 lbs = 8.64 lbs/hp

thats is so cool. if the 5.0 is underrated by the 1 percent allowed under SAE rules.

termi = 425hp/3665 lbs = 8.623 lbs/hp

2011gt= 416hp/3560 lbs = 8.55 lbs/hp

IMO this car will out 'ET' a terminator stock for stock when the dust settles.

the cobra has wider tires ...275/40-17 vs 2011 gt 255/40-19, but the pirelli p-zero is a better compound.

the rear gear ratio for the 2011 is better 3.73 vs 3.55 for the termi.

easier to launch a live axle vs IRS for most drivers.

I've been thinking about this comparison lately as well. Should be very very close.

Even so, I think I'd still choose a Termi if I had the choice of having either, on the basis of looks and styling, and on future mod possibilities. I like the idea of low compression/high boost better than high compression/whatever else. I also like the built motor of the Termi.

Do the '11 5.0s have a built motor? If not, any speculation as to how much it can hold?

Evan Smith ran a 12.4 in a stock Cobra , we have to see when he gets his hands on a 2011 GT to find out , I bet its a 12.5 car in the hands of a really good driver !

I'm with you on this one!:nice:

Either way I look forward to the new owners of the 5.0's inputs and floods of drag clips on youtube.

On the flip side of low compression high boost vs high compression...I say N/a built blocks rock and there's a certain awesomeness about a GT N/A engine that produces 400+hp stock...

Aren't the new Shelby GT 350's equipped with the new 5.0 and some type of roots style blower ? I wonder how close the 500hp is to the limit. I would hope that it could take a little more tweaking.....

I'd rather have the new car for many reasons excluding modability. Though, I think the 03/04s look better, the GT should get better MPG in comparison. But who really keeps a stock terminator anymore

So what’s final price point for all this Shelby goodness? An additional $33,995 on top of the purchase of the base Mustang GT.

:eek:

I didn't even know about this car. I get the feeling that within a few more months, we'll know exactly what these cars will do. I get the feeling that the OP here is going to be one of the ones testing it out. :D

Motortrend dynoed the 5.0 at 440hp crank hp. I would take the new GT over an 03-04 cobra.

you better believe im gonna be testing it.
1. im gonna run it stock then..
2.with air filter
3. use royal purple lube everywhere
4. drag radials
5. tubular radiator support
6. any removable items...ie dog bone.
7. c10 race gas
8. c16 race gas
9. 93 octane with 5-10% nitro methane

get some numbers.

too bad the 2011 can't outrun it's fugly rear end...and too bad the 2005+ Mustangs are so freakin' big

I know some folks like 'em, but they aren't for me...just like I'd prefer a '66 with a little, "low powered" 289 over a 70 with a 351 :shrug:
