Forgot to plug in MAF, did I hurt anything....

...other than my pride?

Well in a rush to fame and glory weekend before last, I forgot to plug my MAF back in after my PI intake swap
I don't think I hurt anything but will I notice any performance imporvements now? My car felt pretty good after the swap and lack of MAF sensor, so will it run better now? I'll be taking my car for a drive later today on my lunch break to see if there is any differance and in for a Dyno tune tomorrow. Too many beers can hurt you if your not careful

Nawww.. but you probably tripped a code or two... I'm assuming you started your car?? If it started, then I'm very surprised.. Usually it won't.. But no harm done..

I have been driving my car for a week and a half!!! I did the swap weekend before last and just now noticed I forgot to plug in the MAF. So my question is will I get better performance now?

Did you notice anything after you installed the MAFterburner? What exactly does it do?

you'll prolly notice that it's smoother... it'll definitely 'sound' better..

A MafterBurner basically changes air/fuel mixtures.. I helps to correct some a/f problems..ie if you're too lean, it can correct that or vice versa.. the best part of using it is that you use regular gas.. no premium stuff needed for this little box.. i have it installed, but it's not in use yet... i need to get with my homie for some 'free' time on the dyno, then we'll fool around with it..

Smoother acceleration? Exhaust note or intake sound?

but, no harm done.. other than, like you said, 'pride' and the setting of a code or two.. but i'm still surprised your car started without being plugged in... if i turn my car on, then unplug the MAF, it sputters for a second or two, then dies.. it will not start again... interesting..

all of the above... the exhaust note...might be barely noticable though..i don't know if you can heard, or rather heard a slight sputtering?? that will now be gone... but, don't worry, you didn't screw up anything..

When the MAF is unplugged the computer should go into closed loop mode. It's a default mode it can use in case of a MAF failure so you can get someplace to get it fixed. Won't hurt anything. Other than gas mileage.

No harm done to anything but a code, The EEC just works off of TPS signal and rpm in that sort of situation, you should now have better performance, an improved exhaust note and overall improvement in drivability. Power delivery should be smoother with quicker reaction times.

CL is used primarily for gas milage and clean burning, keeps the car @ around 14.7AFR. This is benificial for for milage. In closed loop the car uses your o2 sensors to keep that AF @ 14.7 because that is where they switch(most narrow band o2's), the EEC continually makes the mixture a lil above, a lil below and makes the o2s switch in CL operation.

I'm surprised you could get it to idle at all. I left mine unplugged(back when I was N/A) and ran off to get some food and I kept dying in the drive thru. I realized while in line what was going on, pulled out and plugged it back in. 15000 miles later, no problems.
