Has lotsa good stuff-Eleanor was bought for @$5,500, a Fairlane broke in half while practicing the jump over the wrecked cars, and Eleanor was scheduled to be in Gone II (the movie Halicki was filming when he died)...Oh, and Eleanor actually had a 351c 4v motor according to this article-I tend to believe that more than the website that says it is a 351w. It also has pics-I was surprised (and relieved, since we do as well) to see that Eleanor has a standard-not deluxe-interior...Just thought I'd share...Oh, and the second Eleanor, the one used in close ps, and that he drives away in the end, was sold to someone in San Pedro, CA...wonder where it is now?

I love that movie. It was way better than the remake. I think that might have been what got me hooked on the 73 stangs.

Hey, we should all get together and make us a car chase movie. That'd be awesome!

whats the name of the site?

Not on a site, I actually have a paper copy of an article published in July of 89 in "Musclecar review". The owner of the gone fan webpage is going to look into getting an ok to post it on his site though, I scanned it into my pc & emailed him a copy...

yea, I started looking into crap last night, they have two more of his movies after gone in 60, dont know if there any good, I'm gonna try to get them on netflix, but if they dont have it, might just buy em. Also, anybody let down that they cheezed up the soundtrack on the dvd vs. the original vhs?!? I think some scenes might be different to, oh well.

The Junkman was a cool movie, but I didn't like the other one. I've got it. I saw it and had to buy it, but it is just a new edit of gone in 60 seconds, and the other movie is really just a short. Damn it sucks that Halicki had to go get himself killed. I loved his vision. Yeah I like the original soundtrack better. It was cool the way the car's exaust note changed as it aquired more damage.

Junkman is cool, the one that comes with Gone II sucks-it's a bunch of stuff edited together from gone & junkman. HOWEVER, gone II was worth it-although it's only a few scenes, the Slicer is awesome! I too am bummed about the soundtrack in Gone-am searching for the original soundtrack with very little success-it's at least like "gone in 60 seconds" (the opening song). I like how the original soundtrack followed the plot...like the "lois lane blues" comes on right after he says he's not superman..and the song that's playing when the lady's yelling at the insurance agent about the dog being in the house (the dog harold, the dog...the's in the house again...) frickin hilarious. Luckily I have a VHS of the original too.

I remembered the name of the other movie-deadline auto theft.

BTW, for those interested, here's some links to vid clips:

Here's where they came from (there's otheres there, as well as lower bandwith & different media player versions):

I wish he would have lived to finish gone II (the other movie that comes with deadline auto theft)....ironically, Gone II was filmed mostly in NY, and the tower crash that can be seen in the movie (also how he died) was filmed about 20 minutes from where I live. In fact, my husband was supposed to go with his dad that day to watch filiming, but his mom wouldn't let him miss school.

So, I knew all about the original Gone in 60, but have never seen it. I want to get it on DVD, but then I spot this thread, and find out about The Junkman and The Slicer too...where does Gone in 60 Seconds II fit in? Now I want to see them all, what DVD should I get, the trilogy? From the thread, it looks like the remastered DVD has screwed up the soundtrack.

Guys, help a Brit out here, I want to see them all, but I don't know what to get...

What makes the original movie better is that all the stunts were done by real drivers on real streets. There were no cranes or magic photography to make the jumps. I have both on DVD, the first one is more real.
And yes, we really did have hair and sideburns and dress like that back then.

The Slicer is the main car in the Gone II, which is only about 30-45 minutes of spliced together scenes, as that movie was never finished.

The remastered DVD has cheesy background music instead of the original songs by a guy who's last name I won't even attempt to spell-I think perhaps they couldnt get a deal worked out to include it in the remastered version. I have seen several older versions on sale on EBAY on your side of the pond, you might pick one up rather easy. Either one is worth while, I would suggest trying to find an old one because the soundtrack is a finishing touch to the movie.

Gone trivia:

In the original, when Eleanor knocks down the lightpost on the highway, it was an accident, but left in for effect!

Most chase scenes were filmed at dawn on Sundays, as that was when there was the least traffic on the highways.

hey funny this thread came up because last night i watched the new remake of gone in 60 sec. but i felt i wanted to see the original because i have never seen it because im only 15... but anyways i searched ebay for a copy of the orignial movie and found this old orignial movie ad of gone in 60 Sec with the 1973 mach1 on the front of it... i think im going to by it the bid is at 10 bucks.. thinking about buying it and puting it in a frame and hang it on the wall...... another question is the new remake VHS diffrent from the Remake DVD or are they the same..
pS. dont bid on the Ad cause i want it bad cause i have a 73 mach 1 :bang:

I saw that ad too...I'll pass on bidding on it, specially if it's going to another 73 owner. I have a newspaper ad that I found there, it's pretty cool...actually, I've been slowly collecting Gone stuff since we bought our Eleanor (we're building up ours to look like the original-the only main difference will be the lack of the roll cage. Visually though, it will look alike-eventually we will even swap out our 302/c4 for a 351/c6. I'd like to verify if it was a c or w though-I tend to believe it was a c although the official site says it's a modded w-I think he basically made his own Boss 351, but I could be wrong). The Gone DVD has a few extras, I'd buy the DVD over the VHS unless you come across the early release VHS from the 80's with the original soundtrack...

yeah i would like the orginal sound track cause i love the sound of the cars and pluss i want to hear the 73 mach cause unforantly mine doesnt run cause she needs rebuilding.. hopeing to get her above 500 horse my auto tec teacher does race engines and he said he would help me lol

If I remember correctly, the engine was pulled from a ford nascar, sowhatever they were running at the time... Also, the only reason I saw the original in the firstplace was because the cover art with it busting through the wall, that front cross beam caught my eye "hey... thats like my car!"

From what I've found, it's a 351 "secretly modified" (to quote the official site) by Halicki. For what he supposedly paid for her originally, she could even be a repainted BOSS, but I doubt. I found out about the movie hunting for 73 Mach models online when we were contemplating buying ours. I came across the model of Eleanor and though "huh? I thought it was some fake Shelby thing..." so I looked into it-bought the DVD, and went OMG, that was one car & one guy the whole time?! Mad respect for both, and we decided we'd build our 73 into an Eleanor lookalike. Not too original, but it gave us a goal-plus we were starting with a car that's originally medium bright yellow, w/out the naca/nasa hood...
