Found Something On My Filter

Hope some can help, freaking out about this. When changing the oil on my 89 LX the oil filter had debris in it. I have attached a picture, am I in trouble?

Cut the filter in half and see if it's full of debri?
To me,it just looks like paint chips off the block

Yeah, cut it open to see. If it has a bunch of metal pieces in it. You might have something to think about.

Are those pieces magnetic?

Any tapping or ticking coming from the motor ?

Are those actual chunks of metal? Can you pull them off and put on a paper towel for better look? Also, cut open the filter and see if there is more metal chunks inside.

Kinda looks a bit like crumbled gasket material, if it's magnetic you could have an issue but like others said you need to cut open the filter to see what else is going on.

No ticking or anything. I will check it tonight to see if they are magnetic

I'm guessing gasket chunks. Do any motor work recently?

No motor work has been done recently. I still need to cut open the filter. Thanks for all the input!!
