Looking for someone that could check out my car. Been chasing this issue for months now and can't figure it out. So I'm looking for someone knowledgeable that could look at it. I'm in grand ledge.
Idles really rough when could and if you try to drive it shudders and its really boggy. Once it gets warmed up it runs pretty good. I can start it cold and let it sit for like 5 minutes and then it acts like something kicks in and it trys to die but if I catch it with the throttle and not let it die it runs perfect. If I don't catch it with the throttle and it dies I have to start the process all over.
You have multiple things you can fix by researching here on the forum. Look the codes up and then find out how to fix them. Why is your iac bypassed? Thats one reason the car falls on its face. Lots of people do "mods" that actually hurt performance because they read somewhere it would make the car faster. If i were you i would return as much as possible to stock and then mod it tastefully and profesionally if that is the plan. when i bought mine the list of engine codes was three times that long and most were because of the wanna be race car driver that owned it before me. Took almost a year of tinkering to get it back to running right. Thats including scrounging for oem parts though.
Actually the guy I bought it off of raced it. They guy I bought it from seems pretty educated on the mustangs and we still keep in touch he just lives 2 hours away or I would just take it to him. Nothing on the car seems like a hack job. Me on the other hand am new to this. Ive tried multiple things within the past couple months with no luck. Most of the codes it throws are the stuff that was deleted like the canister and smog equipment. Theres a block off plate on the tb where the IAC was and I'm not sure what the benefits are of that. I'm just looking for someone knowledgeable in the area that could get this thing running right.
I do understand what your saying though. I have been tinkering for awhile now and just getting frustrated because everything I do doesn't change anything lol. One of the codes is for the map that is bypassed so I replaced that and the car ran even worse. I did the ecu reset after installing the map too
Well that's the problem it was built for the strip so I'm sure it ran great there. It runs great for me also just not when its cold. That's what I can't figure out. I have been doing what you suggest. I've been going back to stock as much as I can find parts and as much as my wallet will let me.
Junkyards are your friends. Also rockauto.com for crossmatching other vehicles in the junkyards that may have the parts you need. And one more thing. This guy fixed my stang for me from hundreds of miles away. @jrichker
That's good too know. I didnt know about rock auto. Yeah jrichker was trying to help me on my other post but had no luck he seems like he definitely knows his stuff. I wish he lived next door to me.
