So, as the condition of one of my tail lights has continued to deteriorate over the years, I've been weighing out my options for a suitable replacement. I've ultimately ruled out completely the idea of putting Altezzas on my car in any form as I think they look completely buttf***ing ridiculous on a fox stang. The standard Lx replacements are another avenue, but I'd really like something different. I've spied some red/smoke led tails that look interesting, but since I've yet to catch any pics of cars with them installed, they're only a prospect. Was also thinking Mclaren covers... If anyone has any reccomendations or slighlt more obscure options, I'd love to hear them. Also, any pics of the installed LEd's would be great.
Thanks

Capri Tail lights look good on dark colored GT's, but good luck finding a set of them and the tail panel would have to be modified.

i know a guy with a Mclaren, those covers dont come cheep! you could do a set of 84-86's, like the lx tails but with the yellow turns.

I like the old school cheese graters and they still look good. LX tails are okay but played out. cobra tails are cool and are easy to do and I like Flavadave4 tails he did a nice job. I still have cheese graters on my white GT, they look good on certain colors. I just seen a sick looking black GT with them and it looked awsome.

If its a GT. Stick with the cheese graters.

If you want to be different. "Paint them trim black" to match the trim on the car. It will take a couple hours to tape up all the little lenses but well worth it.

Consider it: stock with a twist.

I did this to my Grabber orange '87 "my avatar" and it looks mean from the rear. I get plenty of compliments on them.

that looks great! I was going to buy a set on epay and the seller had them listed separate, needless to say i only ended up with one
Try finding a nice set of black OE 'graters on ebay, talk about a PITA! i bought what i thought was a set of lenses about three years ago and ended up being the whole assembly. not bad for under 20 bucks!

Those are some seriously sexy looking lights! Did you black out the reflector to get that look?

SOMEBODY SLAPEEM!! Just kiddin

The cheese graters went out of style for years. Everyone "including myself" wanted the cleaner look of the LX and Cobra lenses.

But, IMO they are back! FYI, you can buy Cheese Grater repros from 50resto and other sources now. They come with painters masking templates for masking the lenses for ease of painting.

As I mentioned above, I restored and reused my old ones on my '87 GT vert. They really look cool matte black.

I plan on replacing the LX lenses with new cheese graters on my '88GT vert in the very near future.

One thing I have learned about fox parts is to not throw anything away eventually someone will want what you have.
