Has anyone ever experienced a serious problems after installing an FR500 wheel on their 2004 Mustangs? I mean serious, along the lines of your power steering, or brakes no longer working.
Uhm no? Why did this happen to you?? LOL... It's just a steering wheel, nothing that has to do with power steering or brakes can happen from the steering wheel being changed.
Well maybe it's just a coincidence, that a set of perfectly working brakes , and perfectly working power steering BOTH went out at the same time, which was also the same time I replaced the wheel. From the sound of it, the brake system and steering are linked together. "These cars are a hydroboost brake system which depends on the power steering pump for pressure."
I did this wheel swap on my 94 mustang once, and had no problem at all, but I did have an extremely hard time getting the stock wheel off of this 04. It could be just a coincidence, but it's a piss poor one. And I can't think of any other reason these systems would go out, except the the wheel swap (even though that makes no sence). Well if anyone else has had this problem, please share. Maybe this will stop someone in the future from having a problem.

Dude your power steering pump probably went out, or you have a leak in the lines so you have no pressure... The steering wheel has absolutely no bearing on the hydroboost! On the electrical side there is only ONE electrical connection you have to undo when doing the steering wheel anyway...and thats the airbag!
Take it to somebody who knows what they are doing, like a reputable local mustang specialist shop or your local Ford dealer.
yeah so I took it here, a reputable mustang forum. That's as far as I can go for now considereing it's sunday. It's going back to the dealership tomorrow though. In the mean time, I did find a leak after looking into it some more. And EVERYONE says the wheel swap has nothing to do with it. Possible piss poor coincidence like I said. I also have this post going in the 4.6 tech section. It started as a brake problem, but now it seems like both these posts are heading in the same direction.
