Frankenstein T-bird With 96 Gt Engine/drive Train

Recently i purchased a 96 Thunderbird with a 96 Mustang GT motor/complete rear axle with 3.73 posi. It has the typical mods cold air induction,x-pipe with true duals series 60 flowmasters. Wanna start doin serious upgrades. Lookin for info to point me in the right directions. Thanks Dan

The engine/trans is basically the same as a mustang. Was the rear rebuilt, or did they get one of the frpp 99 Cobra units with the aluminum case? Tccoa is your best bet for info if you need. They're great sleeper cars, and cheaper than a mustang to insure. Mine was great in the snow with the traction-lok.

Being both cars were 4.6's was the mustang computer used or was it a plug and play situation

I can't think of any reason to change anything, the mn12 computer is the same thing as an auto GT computer anyway. The programming may be a tiny bit different, but a chip would basically make that even.

Cool beans where can i acquire a chip. Its a fun car but always room for more fun. Thank you for your knowledge and info. One more question i can buy long tube headers their for a 96 gt will they fit in the t-bird

It's been a while since I owned one, but I remember kooks having 3/4 length headers for mn12 cars. The mustang ones will fit on the passenger side, but they'll never clear the steering linkage on the driver's side. I prefer SCT tuning, but everyone has a favorite.
