You need a fraternity so they can help you write your papers, because you will fail if they don't.

But seriously I started to pledge with a Fraternity and I decided it was just not for me. Too many guys in one place, too dirty, too many obilgations that I dont want to deal with. I had alot more fun after I decided to not go through with it.

Yes there is actually a big difference. Alot of the professional fraternitys (at least at my school) are coed. These types of frats sponsor alot of professional development programs that can help you get a job and being part of one will look good on a resume. A social fraternity will only possibly help you if you run into a manager that is a former brother and likes to reminisce about their old party days.

Hell no. I have friends who are engineers and in frats, and IMO they take up way too much of your time for sponsored events, parties, and ****.

I joined a car club on campus and its like our own frat. We party, go on fun drives, attend shows all around the area and hang out all the time. Great way to make friends.

This is at University of Maryland, College Park.

They do not guarantee a job or help you get one

I can get a job with skills and work not being part of a club.

thats what id do if they tell you you need to be in a frat to have fun and friends then they obviously have no personality or social abilities.

plus a couple of people i know actually failed out of school their freshman year because they had to keep up with all the frat activities and were out pledging madd late.

Professional frats don't mean your definitely getting a job, i know first hand. I'm one of 15 kids that already have jobs lined up when we graduate. I think i'm the only one that isn't in the accounting frat, but that goes to show that it can be done. I really think everyone else could have done it without the frat, but the professors here brainwash everyone into thinking that it is a must.

As for social frats, i think it depends on the school. Here in Albany, frat parties really aren't that big here because there are so many beers. On the other hand, i have a friend in Rutgers that tells me that one of the only ways to really party it up in college is to be in a frat. I would check it out and see how it works and go from there.
