Sorry its not what you think. I had an opportunity presented to me. My dealership offered to give me a free Saleen Supercharger kit and everything installed by Saleen techs if I let them use my car for training the techs how to install it. Is it just me or does this kick a$$?

The only problem is that I lose my powertrain warranty (obviously). What would you guys do?

Kind of silly that you lose your powertrain warranty. My dealership installs Roush superchargers and stlil honors the warranty.

Screw the warranty. If it breaks, just go forged!

I'll one up you on the pictures. Maybe I'll sneak in a video camera to the shop and film it. I have access to the place and will be watching anyway.

I'm flipping out. Its a great opportunity. Why does it only push 400hp though?

After the dealer tunes it, go out and find a reputable tuner in your area. Normally they can get more power with more reliable A/F ratios. Most likely the dealer will leave it below the 400 mark... probably close to 385 as with some others that I have seen. Are they going to tune it on a dyno? Or just through in the canned tune from Saleen?

Likely with their tune. We dont have a dyno at work. Once I throw on my long tubes and x-pipe I'll get it tuned again. 385 isnt all that much of a difference for a damn supercharger. But its better than what I had!

If they use the 2006 Saleen tune you will have 435hp. If they use the 2005 tune you will have 400hp. If you go to an aftermarket tuner you can get around 470-480hp, but that's with adding a little more boost, around 8psi.

My Saleen is an 05' and came with 400hp. I re-flashed it with the 2006 tune at 435hp. I am still under the full Saleen warrantee so I haven’t gone to an aftermarket tune yet.

So you think its worth it? Im deffinately looking at keeping it on the safe side. Cause if I do it...no more warranty! So I need to know how far I can push my engine and in turn how much hp i get outta it without blowing something. It'll most likely be the 06 tune and charger....unless Saleen is still selling the 05 tunes and such.

Mine drives like a bat out of hell. It is definitely worth it. To start off, go with the stock tune and 4psi and see how you like it. Chances are you won't feel the need to push it any harder. I'd also spend a little extra money on the Saleen gauge pod that measures the boost and the intercooler temp. It's nice to know how far you can push it, plus it looks cool.

I will most definately get the gauge pod. But what else does Saleen change on the S281s so the stock motor handles the S/C better? Should I get pulleys or anything else?

As far I as know the only changes are the pulleys, a K&N air filter and larger fuel injectors.

Go for it, I know I would have said yes in a heartbeat. Like some others have said, the "low" (I use this adjective loosely) hp numbers are from the unit operating at low psi. Crank the psi up and get a good tune if you want better numbers.
