its a 1988 gt, the fuel pump is working, we can hear it, both fuel relays have been replaced (under seat and in hatch), it wants to turn over but doesnt , and he has barley any fuel pressure, he just replaced his fuel filter thinking it was that but it still wont start. also his battery is fine. any ideas on what it could be?

when the fuel pumps priming, does it sound normal or does it sound like it's sucking air or grinding or anything? maybe the sock filter thing on the bottom of the pump is clogged.

has any work been done to the car lately that might have effected it?

have you checked the pressure regulator on the fuel rail? i just had a similar problem with my truck and it was the litlle piece of hose that connects the pump in the tank to the discharge line. its an 85 f150 fi but similar pump as the mustang. mine had just deteriorated from age i guess. best i could tell it had a hole in it and just would'nt allow the pressure to stay up.
