Finally picked up my new mustang. My fox was great but I couldn't pass up this deal. It was owned by my brother who changed the oil religiously and drove like a grandma. I drove to california to pick it up and just got back this weekend. Gotta say, the comfort level is way above what the fox is. Dog on the bottom end but once it hits its power band it pulls great. here are some pics.

a little dirty but it rained all the way home

looks like an 03 DSG to me, but DSG and MG can look the same in pics some times :(

see, i need to learn these things. dsg?? mg??? it is an 01, only mod is the flowmasters I bought my brother 3 years ago. tires are goodyear eagles??

a few questions to those who have been around. what kind of problems do these have? as far as up keep on them what problem areas should I look to??

I just changed the oil on it and tossed in a K&N air filter. I thought i smelled a little bit of oil buring on th eexhaust but that could have been from the oil change as the oil filter is a pain to get to. thanks for the help.

Dark Shadow Grey and Mineral Grey

your car (as well as mine) is Mineral Grey. 'o1 and 'o2's have mg
'o3-'o4 had dsg

as for problems my brother has an auto 'o1 gt with around 60k and he's never had any problems at all and let's just say he's not what you call a maintanence feind

i've got 38k on my 'o2 and the only problem i've had was with the driver side window falling off it's track

how many miles?

No probs for me...then again, I only owned from 20k miles til 30k miles. I woke up the auto w/ a Diablosport predator and firmed those shifts up.

I just got it home yesterday so I havent had the time to do anything. You should have seen the sticker that was on it and the crap on the interior, my brother let his wife decorate I guess. I think it has a small oil leak somewhere. I dont see it on the ground but I can smell a little oil burning probably off the headers. Need to polish it. For the price I couldnt pass it up. I actually Love the fact it is an auto. I thought about changing it but it is fun so I am going to leave it. Just curious if these are prone to anything that is common. The oil I am smelling could be form the oil change but I don't think I would still be smelling it.

I plan on a diablo tune and possible an xpipe. Not going to do anything major on it for now like gears. going to get 10.5 rear bullitt rims, possibly cobra front fascia and maybe a s281 wing. not sure yet though. That will all come with time. for now I am going to enjoy driving it.

top end this car will pull on my mustang without a doubt. but in the quarter alone I think my fox would take it. I have raced other 4.6 99+ in my fox and have beaten them pretty good but I dont think they were very good drivers (not that i am the end all be all.)

I really love the comfort of this car and plan on some sort of power adder like a ken bell way later down the line. I think I found my oil leak problem. Looks like it may be coming from the oil pan bolt. I will check it out tomorrow. Just a few drops here and there. I hope that is it anyways. I hate hunting down oil leaks.

Congrats on the new 4.6 ! They are good motors.

I would NOT advise getting an Xpipe though, especially if you think it's a dog off the line now. The xpipe will only make that worse on a stock car. I had an O/R Xpipe on my 99GT for about 3 hours before I removed it and Ebayed it. Off idle torque suffers too much on a stock car, even worse on an automatic I am sure.

Skip the body kit/wing crap too. :nonono:

Get that pony some more power! Predator tune, a CAI and subframes would be a good start.
