How could I go about wiring a fuel cut off switch? Basically this is going to be an addition to an aftermarket alarm when I get one installed. Could it simply be easy as installing a switch into the fuse box. Like cut the wire that goes to the fuel pump fuse and put a switch on it or is it more complicated? I have a pretty decent knowledge of electrical so hit me up. Thanks.

Dont 99+ cars already have a fuel shut off switch that came stock? Its got that button in the trunk you have to push if the car sense you at redline to long, or if you get in an accident. There might be a way to tap into that, but I know jack about electrical stuff sorry

That's just a reset switch. Shouldn't have anything to do with the on/off function. It'll just reset the computer it would seem.

So what will it do? If the alarm is tripped, then your pump cuts off until you hit a switch?

What model year is your car? For 01-04, you can tap into the fuel pump feed wire behind the passenger side kick panel. After removing the sill molding and kick panel, follow the harness that comes from under the carpet and toward the rear. There will be a gray connector (14 pins in 2 rows) off this harness about a third of the way up. One of the outside pins in the row with 6 pins has a dark green wire with a yellow stripe. This connects the fuel pump relay to the inertia switch. You can cut this wire at either side of the connector and wire in a hidden cutoff switch. When the switch is open, the fuel pump will not run. The switch should be rated to handle 15 amps at 12V.

I just want to be able to switch it and make the car uncrankable if someone tried to jack it. Basically when I get out of the car the switch gets flipped.

just find the fuse for the fuel pump, and install a fuse switch.

There is a clutch switch mounted just above the pedal that prevents cranking unless the clutch is depressed. You can just wire your own momentary contact push button in series. Wire colors to the clutch switch are white with a pink stripe and red with a light blue stripe.

"How to" for starter inhibit switch . . .
(1) Purchase a momentary push button switch (minumum current rating 3 amps). The contacts should be closed only when the button is pushed in, and open when released.
(2) Mount the switch in an accessible, but out of direct sight, location (see ***, below).
(3) Run 2 wires from this switch to the clutch inhibit switch (mounted near the clutch pedal pivot).
(4) Cut one of the wires leading to the clutch inhibit switch. Strip both free ends, and connect each to one of the wires you ran from the new switch. Is does not matter which is which. Use small wire nuts or crimp caps to secure and protect the connections.

That's it! The starter will not operate unless the switch is being held in. This is a passive system; it automatically reverts to armed when you turn off the engine.

Note ***: I like to mount these on the side of the console or near the accelerator pedal so I can depress the switch with my right foot or right knee. If you paint the switch to match the console, a thief will not notice it easily.

Yes. Though you do have the option of eliminating the need to hold the clutch in, if that's your preference. In the "old days", before clutch inhibit switches, we could move a disabled car a short distance with the starter motor, by operating it with the car in gear.

Becase I knew that i was going to do so many mods that it made sense to have a programmable chip, I boughtthe 4 position autologic chip and just programmed one of the settings as a " kill setting". it allows the car to crank and start momentarily, and then die. that chip has allowed so many mod changes including mil elim, timing, gears, a/f traction control , and many more, one of my other settings is a vallet setting that only allows 2500 rpm, say if your kid was to drive it or say that evil vallet? so, anyway, you can just put a fuse switch in place or wire it, but I still like having the ability to control everything else too. Just more convenient that way...
