I have a 2007 Mustang convertible that I purchased about 5 months ago. I absolutely love to drive her and she really kicks up her heels! However, there is 1 frustrating issue that I have found that I wonder if anyone else has or if there is a fix for. When filling the car with fuel at a gas station, the gas "bubbles up" and the nozzle clicks off. This happens only at various gas stations (which I try to avoid) but doesn't seem consistent to any particular brand of gas, or not that I have noticed anyway. I have to twist the nozzle around, pull it out, push it in, fill it at slow speed or otherwise try to coax the fuel into the car. It's VERY frustrating!!!! Today, I wasn't able to fill it beyond the 3/4 mark, making this the worst experience I have had filling it up. It usually is worse as it passes the 1/2 way point. Usually turning the nozzle to one side or another and holding it out slightly helps but not today. Any one else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

Gasoline pumps have auto shut off sensors that detect when a vehicles tank is full. Some of them work better than others. Don't go to the stations that suck... Pretty much that simple.

Yes, I know that the stations have automatic shut off but why does this only happen with my Mustang and not the other cars I drive? Shape of the fuel fill pipe? Length of the pipe? Extra foamy fuel?

Its a common issue. Mine did it a couple of times when I first got the car.
Now I just fill it on the slowest setting and have had no problem at all.

Mine does it all the time too. Especially at this one Safeway gas station. The last time I filled up there it took me about 10 minutes, because it would shut off even at the lowest speed I could go. I must have looked like an idiot moving that thing all over the place, coming in sideways, upside-down, nothing helped. I must have called that pump every name in the book.

I am glad and disheartened to see that this is a common problem. Glad it's not just me, disheartened that no one has discovered a work-around or fix.

Different designs work better with some cars than others. Additionally they probably have a calibration setting that might be off. Bottom line, its a high use item that has to be designed for probably 1000's of different fuel inlets. Its not out of the realm of possibility that it doesn't work flawlessly on ALL cars. Just sucks that it doesn't work on yours. I am going to guess that you're slightly concerned that maybe your car an issue and that's just not the case.

Thanks for the info. But it looks like the TSB only applies to 2005 models. The OP and I both have 07's.
